TIAP MIDISONIC

A MIDI player that turns movement into music, letting you shape sound with every gesture—intuitive, expressive, and almost magical.

With an aluminum frame and a semi-transparent, customizable top cover, MIDISONIC lets ambient light glow through, creating a visually immersive experience. Its ultrasonic sensors track hand gestures for expressive sound control, while modular snap-together units ensure seamless integration with the agent and other setups—perfect for musicians and live performers.

Inspiration

In 1920, Russian physicist Lev Sergeyevich Termen—better known as Leon Theremin—accidentally revolutionized music while researching proximity sensors. His invention sang without touch, bending invisible waves into eerie, ethereal sound. As he toured Europe, mesmerizing crowds with his ghostly melodies, the world took notice. By 1928, he had patented the theremin in the U.S., where RCA sought to bring its magic to the masses—an instrument that felt more like sorcery than science.

Process

- Sketching – Initial hand-drawn concepts explore form, function, and proportions. - CMF Ideation (VIZCOM) – Digital visualization refines color, materials, and finish, enhancing aesthetics and functionality. - Product Making – Prototyping begins with material selection, fabrication, assembly, and testing to ensure design integrity.
